Boat seats – different types of boat seats

Boating is the most preferred water sport as well as a favorite pastime for many Americans and this is also now quickly catching up as the favorite water sport for many people all over the world also. And for a person owning a boat, the first accessory that he will look into is the boat seats. Without a proper seating facility, one cannot enjoy the serenity of the deep waters as well as cannot have a relaxing and unwinding weekend with ones family and friends. The best types of captain’s chairs are UV stabilized polyethylene seat with extra clustered cushions, padded armrests on aluminium mounted brackets and foot pedestals. Also the captain’s seat is usually a slider one, which will help the captain to slide the seat up and down. This one is considered to be the luxury type of boat seat and is very expensive. The last expensive type of captain’s chairs is the removable snap on cushions with a pedestal. 

The most popular type of boat seats for the fishing boats are the swivel seats which can be easily fitted to the seat hole provided in these boats. The benefits of these swivel seats are that they are removable and can be kept aside when not in use, can turn 360 degree, fit most of the standard seat hole patterns, self lubricating and have non corrosive poly swivel bearings and E coated steel that will resist corrosion. Most of the swivel seats have a quick release system that will let the seats detach easily through the plastic tracks that are mounted on the boat.

There are few additional types of boat seats that are less expensive and are preferred by the moderate income group people for their boats. The top of the ice chests are fixed with well stuffed cushions which can be used as a boat seat and will also save space in the boat as there is no particular space needed for the seat and the chest itself is used as a seat. They can be fixed anywhere the angler decides to fix it in the boat. Another type of boat seat that is easily available and is preferred by most owners for their boats is the folding or the quick flip seat. There are numerous varieties and models of these folding boat seats in  the market that are easy to fold up  and shift it inside the storage room of the boat in case of bad weather. Bucket seats are also common type of boat seats that are made of heavy duty marine grade vinyl and hence are sun, salt and mildew resistant.

Moulded plastic type proform seats are found to be the most ideal for small boats, have a cushioned seat and back for utmost comfort and can be folded when not in use. Lounge seats are best suited for more people traveling on the boat. They are back to back seats and are usually seen on sky boats. Most of these seats are made of plastic frames that have cushioned seats and provide dry storage space underneath. These lounge seats are available in various shapes, styles and sizes and can be permanently mounted on to the boat as they are UV treated to provide mildew and heat resistance.

The most inexpensive type of boat seats is the stern seats that are located at the back of the boats and are found either on one side or both sides of the engine facing the front of the boat. Lounge seats of the luxury type are boat seats that are similar to a couch at home. More than one person can sit on these couches or can make a great sun bathing seat as a person can lie down on them and enjoy the sun shining on his body. The most common among the type of boat seats and the least expensive one is the bench seats. They are commonly used in the fishing boats or in recreational boats. Nowadays, these seats also come cushioned at the back and the seat providing a great seating experience.
